Do you really need to go to a “Big Box Store” to get it? Located about halfway through Birnamwood on Highway 45 is a two-story brown cedar building. Has anyone stopped to look inside? For seven years starting in October 2004 this building has been home to an over 4,000 square foot showroom filled with an unlimited number of samples and displays. Directly behind is a 7,000 square foot acclimated warehouse with 200,000 plus square feet of hardwood flooring. For seven years Woodstock Hardwood Flooring, LLC has been supplying solid hardwood flooring to many people and places from the head coach of the Green Bay Packers to your local high school gymnasium (GO CHARGERS!). Since January of 2010 alone Woodstock has sold well over a million square feet of solid hardwood flooring, this only includes domestic species that have been manufactured right here in Birnamwood Since 1982! Where did Woodstock come from? Right here in our small community! In 1938 Roy Kersten established a saw mill in Wittenberg, WI. It wasn’t until a substantial fire in 1977 that forced his son Philip “Butch” R. Kersten to move the operation to Birnamwood. Starting over with the purchase of state of the art equipment, Butch made the decision to manufacture flooring and other wood components for the building industry. In 1981 Kersten Lumber Company purchased dry kilns to aide in the ever increasing demand for wood flooring. Currently Kersten Lumber produces a semi-truck load per day of several species of wood in varying widths for Woodstock Hardwood Flooring as their exclusive store front. Kersten being a “micro” mill opposed to a “macro” mill runs their equipment at a much lower speed allowing their grading specialists to make a better selection of each board that goes into your floor. Woodstock, this small town business ships next day to a number of distribution centers and homes within a 500 mile radius, and at the same time ships to places like Hawaii and Alaska to Maine and Florida, as well as Exporting to Canada and Europe! Don’t let this scare you off; Woodstock also supplies flooring, tools, and other equipment needed to our local contractors & flooring installers (who they are more than happy to recommend) as well as renting equipment to the everyday “Do-It-Yourselfer”. Woodstock offers a wide variety of samples on display, however if you don’t see what you like just ask and they will custom match the sample you liked at the “Big Box Store” or whatever your imagination can create. With hundreds of thousands of square feet in stock on a daily basis they can take any number of species and design your masterpiece! If you are not looking for the mess of a floor being sanded and finished in your home, Woodstock can take any of the unfinished woods and create a pre-finished floor that just needs to be nailed in. Maybe you have a special situation or you are looking for something a little more unique like: different stain colors, exotic woods, cork, engineered, or a custom Amish hand-scrape? No Problem! There is a wide array of cork and engineered floors and an all new Sauk County Amish hand-scrape display, as well as Woodstock’s exclusive “Olde Wisconsin Collection” that has a circle sawn effect! All of this in our small community in central Wisconsin! Woodstock has Wisconsin's largest inventory, offering jobsite delivery & acclimated warehousing. Everything the contractor needs is here.
